Vinted Users Express Displeasure Over Size Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's garments but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Reaction
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to review their products and manually change the size where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Modifications
Previously, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
