It's difficult for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

This is the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the peak baggers, are what's still available for a side that has accomplished all there is.

It needed up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the bowlers that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's difficult for their batsmen to maintain a record if never given the chance.

In the end, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy receiving a platform to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has witnessed all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her first appearance and seven international trophies have followed from 10 tries across formats.

That loss "motivated us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Many contend the argument supporting the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the test that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was much more difficult to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this knock was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it's been a frustrating experience because it seemed I've had no rhythm at all," commented Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your competitive instincts take over and you just lock into the match."

Healy's fighting spirit has continuously been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in each encounter, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's spark.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and from there the right-hander was in motion.

"An opportunity to go out there and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 as she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

Once she was out Australia required another 66 at run per delivery - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I'm pleased we have the confidence to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, if we do, we are confident we can achieve it."

Those words will be the last Australia's opponents at this World Cup need to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will win from any position has become more firm - this victory following win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

It was at that stage they exited last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

So great is her will, she afterwards commented she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this championship is likely to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as skipper.

Victory in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
